Coronavirus Update #7: Medical Exemptions to Extended Intervals for Immunization

Dear patients,

Today we received notice from Halton Public Health that the guidelines have been updated and for certain patients you may still receive your immunization at the original intervals [21 days for Pfizer, 28 days for Moderna, and 4-12 weeks for AstraZeneca).

If you meet the current eligibility criteria for vaccination AND you meet the following criteria:

  1. Transplant recipients including solid organ transplants and hematopoietic stem cell transplants.

  2. Individuals with malignant hematologic disorders and non-hematologic malignant solid tumors receiving active treatment (chemotherapy, targeted therapies, immunotherapy).

    • Excluding individuals receiving solely hormonal therapy or radiation therapy

Please note exemptions to the interval are only for the conditions above. Our office and public health do not have authority to provide exemptions outside of the provincial guidelines.

If you meet the above criteria please contact the office whether or not you have received any doses of your COVID immunization. You must fill our the Client Portion of the Exemption Form at the link below and then speak with our office to have the remainder of the form completed.

Please DO NOT book your COVID immunization through the online booking form if you meet the above criteria. You must book through the Halton Healthcare (905-203-7965) and must have the Exemption Form completed prior to booking to bring to your vaccine appointment. Please be aware that immunization at the shortened interval is only available at the Oakville Trafalagar Memorial Hospital clinic.
